School workshops Print E-mail

We developed a new programme called ‘Gamelan Games and Gong’ for schools in partnership with Glasgow City Council and Youth Music Initiative. Working with 4 primary schools over 7 weeks, pupils are introduced to traditional Indonesian music, explore rhythmic and melodic games and create their own group compositions. The project culminates in a performance day by the children and Gamelan Naga Mas.

Please contact us if you wish to work with us to design a programme for your school or organise a gamelan workshop session for your pupils.

Gamelanability Print E-mail

working with people with additional support needsGamelanability is a range of inclusive workshops run by Naga Mas: so far we have provided a range of gamelan music and story workshops for individuals and groups with additional support needs.

Gamelanability sessions are tailor-made to suit the needs of each group or individual, and the sessions use gamelan as an accessible, motivational and multi-sensory experience. They can include taster workshops, listening sessions, weekly groups and one-to-one sessions. We can bring the gamelan to day centres and arts venues for intensive projects that can work towards a sharing performances and recordings of the participant’s music.
